Parties with parliamentary seats in the Assembly of the Republic (AR) are being received by the Minister of Justice, Rita Júdice, this Monday to debate proposals on the fight against corruption.

At the end of the meeting with the government official, PCP deputy António Filipe recalled that the proposals that were now presented to the Government had already been presented to the AR, since the party considers that the Parliament "is the proper place to discuss these matters".

"The PCP has already presented initiatives that have to do with this matter, such as the bill regarding what is called the 'revolving doors' - to prevent someone who has held a public office from leaving that public office and being immediately hired by a company in the sector that they previously supervised. The PCP wants to strengthen the guarantees that this does not happen. Sanctioning not only the holder of the public office, but also the company that hires them in violation of the law. We also presented a legislative initiative that has to do with the prohibition of the State from resorting to arbitration to settle disputes related to public procurement and, in addition, we also consider that a parliamentary inquiry that the PCP proposed on the privatization of ANA Aeroportos is very important", explained the communist deputy.

Regarding the meeting with the Minister of Justice, António Filipe only said that, as is known, the PCP has "disagreements with the parties that are in the Government", namely, on the issues of arbitration and lobby legislation.

"Obviously, we know that we have disagreements with the parties that are in the Government, which have not accepted the proposals that the PCP has made, namely with regard to the prohibition of arbitration involving disputes in which the State is involved, and the disagreements that we have regarding the so-called regulation of the lobby in which the PCP has distanced itself, considering that this is not a matter of combating corruption, on the contrary", he concluded.
