For this edition, 70 photographs were gathered that can now be exchanged for donations to be allocated, this year, to Casa do Artista.

Created in 2017 by Lusa agency photojournalist António Cotrim, "Uma Imagem Solidária" consists of the donation of a photograph (measuring 30 x 40 centimetres), which will then be acquired by the public, in exchange for a minimum donation of 20 euros. The donation goes to an association, which varies from edition to edition.

"This year we are going to support artists, paying our homage to all those who, in the past, made us laugh and cry, who made us travel and dream. We are going to say 'thank you' and show our recognition for those who dedicate their lives to being part of our lives", said the project organisation at the beginning of the year, when it announced the recipient of this edition.

Photojournalist António Cotrim says that this year there are 70 photos, "all by important names in photography" and that he hopes that this edition will be as successful as the first.

"In the 50th anniversary of April, we decided to support Casa do Artista, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. Culture played a very important role on 25 April and it should be remembered as such when we mark the 50th anniversary of the revolution", said António Cotrim in yet another justification for the recipient of this year's support.

The actor and president of Casa do Artista, José Raposo, is the patron/ambassador of this edition of the initiative that has the sponsorship of the President of the Republic, who in a video message sent to the organisation highlights the "social purpose" of this initiative.

The initiative has the sponsorship of Lusa agency, the Portuguese Communications Foundation and also of Dell Technologies, Visapress, Colorfoto, FinePrint, TunetRadio, Guache Condomínios and Logotexto.

The organisation states that, "in addition to contributing to a noble cause, this initiative promotes the art of photography and values the work of the photojournalists and photographers involved in the solidarity campaign".

Last year, the donations went to an institution that supports women with disabilities who are victims of violence in Águeda, the CERCIAG Shelter.
