FC Midtjylland was crowned Danish football champions today for the fourth time, in a championship final of uncertainty until the end, with the team overcoming Brondby, second, on the last day.

The two teams went into the last round level on points, but Brondby had a superior goal difference.

Midtjylland were losing at home to Silkeborg, 2-0 at half-time, but began a recovery with goals from Franculino (46 minutes), Brynhildsen (48) and Simsir (52), before conceding again to the visitors in the 82nd minute.

Things could have got even more complicated for the team, but leaders Brondby, who had been winning, conceded an equaliser and lost the lead in the 78th minute, going down 3-2 at home to Aarhus in a match they ended up losing in the closing moments.

The League, which named Benfica's Andreas Schjelderup (Nordsjaelland) as its best player, ended with Midtjylland on 63 points, Brondby on 62 and Copenhagen, champions for the last two seasons, third with 59.
