Pinto da Costa, 86 years old, was the guest on the afternoon of this Saturday, April 20, on the show 'Alta Definição'. During the conversation with Daniel Oliveira, in which he recalled his childhood and talked about his family life, among other subjects, he recited 'Menino da Sua Mãe', by Fernando Pessoa, which he decided to memorize during the pandemic. In the interview, he began by saying that he does not think he has a firm leadership. "I think that all those whom I have the pleasure of leading do not think so. It is a leadership of conversation, of modesty", he said, revealing that, for him, "it is easy to trust someone". "And when I do, I trust absolutely, I cannot trust while being suspicious". Pinto da Costa also recalled his childhood with his siblings. "We were six siblings, we all got along well and whenever we were together it was a joy. We played football, hockey, the game of glory..., he said, also recalling that it was with his mother that he learned one of the qualities that he considers essential. "My mother accustomed us to rigor. And we learned to be supportive, to help each other. I still think about her a lot". In the same conversation, the president of FC Porto, who depends on the result of the elections on April 27 to remain in office, also recalls his father and his sudden death, who lost his life with a syncope, in 1977, when he was inside the car, and also revealed that he wanted a different life for him. "He thought I would be a lawyer, but life led me to other things. When I was born, the president of FC Porto was my uncle, my father's brother, and he was a lawyer", he said, explaining that he did not follow that path because it would imply moving to Coimbra and, at the time, he did not want to leave the city of Porto.
