Reflux that won't go away? Keep an eye on these five tips

Gastroesophageal reflux is the passage of gastric contents from the stomach to the esophagus. In most cases, it is a benign condition. However, "when the amount of reflux is greater than the esophagus's ability to protect itself, symptoms begin to appear that cause discomfort and, in more severe cases, can cause injury to the organ," says nutritionist Núria Nunes in a post on the social network Instagram.
With this in mind, the specialist shared five non-drug measures to help end reflux:

1- Avoid drinking liquids during meals;
2- Eat smaller amounts more often;
3- Avoid lying down immediately after meals;
4- Reduce the intake of carbonated beverages;
5- Reduce the consumption of foods such as fats, citrus fruits, tomatoes, and chocolate.
