3-Year-Old Girl Dies After Drowning at Home After Turning on Tap Herself

Iris-Mae Aubrey was found unconscious by her parents at their home in Abertillery, Wales, on September 26 last year.
On the day of the incident, the youngster had been sick and was collected from school early by her grandmother.
She stayed at home with her mother and grandmother until her father arrived home from work.
After she was sick again, her father decided to run her a bath, with her mother helping to prepare it by making sure the water level was safe and the temperature was right.
Her mother then left the bathroom, expecting her daughter to call her when she was finished – as was her usual routine.
But on this occasion, the youngster did not make a sound after 25 minutes, so her mother went to investigate. She found Iris-Mae unconscious in the bath which was full of water.
The youngster could not be revived and her family said it had been a tragic accident which had left them devastated.
An inquest into her death concluded she died as a result of accidental drowning.
