About 23 migrants are missing after their boat set off for Italy from Tunisia. Tunisia's national guard has sent out search teams and asked the navy to help find the missing people.
According to Sky News, Tunisia has been facing a major migrant crisis as people from other African and Middle Eastern countries try to reach Europe by boat. Tunisia has now overtaken Libya as the main departure point for people trying to reach the West.
Last week, most European Union members called for more deals with countries where migrants come from or pass through, in order to stem the flow of irregular migration to the EU. A new pact on migration and asylum will allow EU members to screen people who enter the bloc without permission and deport migrants if they do not qualify to stay.
However, the new EU reforms will not come into effect until 2026, so are not an immediate solution to the migration issue.
