The "portal" connecting Dublin, Ireland, to New York City, United States, reopened on Sunday after being temporarily shut down last week due to "inappropriate behavior" by some of the passersby interacting with the technology.

The installation, which allows visitors on either side to interact in real time, was suspended last Tuesday due to "inappropriate behavior by a small number of people," who exposed body parts, displayed images of 9/11 and used or pretended to use illegal drugs.
On Sunday, organizers said they had implemented a "proximity-based solution," taking steps to prevent people from standing on the portals and pointing their phones at the cameras, NBC News reported.
In addition to placing stanchions and decals in front of the New York portal, standing on the installation or blocking the camera will now cause the image to blur on both sides, the outlet reported.
"I invite local communities to not only enjoy but also take ownership of the portals and how fellow community members experience the installations," said Benediktas Gylys, founder of Portals.org.
Gylys, who created a similar portal connecting his native Lithuania to Poland, said he has plans for future portals in Brazil and Ethiopia.
