A Monumental Serenata marks the formal beginning of the celebrations of the Porto Academic Week and is scheduled for 00:01 on Sunday on the Avenida dos Aliados, where thousands of young people are expected to listen to the fado groups that will take to the stage. On the same location, on Sunday morning, the Mass of Blessing of the Ribbons will be celebrated, celebrated by the bishop of Porto, Manuel Linda. It is this same avenue that will also be the epicenter of another highlight of the Academic Week, namely the Cortejo, composed of all the institutions that make up the Porto Academy that will parade from Rua de Camões to Praça General Humberto Delgado (in front of the Porto City Hall). Thousands of students will be able to follow, between Saturday and the 11th, concerts by singers such as Richie Campbell, who opens the Queimódromo on the first night, and bands such as The Script. In the Queimódromo, next to the Parque da Cidade, which, according to the Porto City Hall, is prepared to receive 300 thousand people, around 50 artists will perform, spread over the eight nights of the Queima das Fitas on the main and secondary stages, which this year changes position with the amusement zone in order to mitigate the spread of noise. To reduce problems related to the concentration of people near the entrance to the venue, on Estrada da Circunvalação, the doors of the Queimódromo open on the first day at 8:00 pm. But the celebrations of the Porto Academic Week are not limited to the Aliados and the Queimódromo, and it is expected that on Sunday the Teatro Sá da Bandeira will host the Meeting of Choirs of the Porto Academy. For Monday, in addition to being the day set for a collection of donations in favor of solidarity institutions and social causes by students, the Promenade Concert is scheduled at the Vilar Seminary, where academy students with musical training will be able to be seen on stage, accompanied by an orchestra. The Iberian Festival of Academic Tunas, on Wednesday, the Cultural Soiree at the Teatro Sá da Bandeira, on Thursday, and the Gala Ball, on the 10th, are some of the other events of the Queima das Fitas. Since the activities of the Academic Week sometimes affect traffic in Porto, namely the Cortejo, several places will be restricted to the passage of cars on Tuesday. In order to facilitate the transportation of students to the highlights of the Queima das Fitas, the Porto Public Transport Company (STCP) will have a reinforced operation, providing the "Shuttle" service between Trindade/Hospital de São João and the Queimódromo throughout the week, between 10:00 pm and 8:00 am. Lines 200 (Bolhão -- Castelo do Queijo) and 205 (Campanhã -- Castelo do Queijo) will also be in operation between 1:00 am and 8:00 am. Metro do Porto will also extend its hours and will have the Blue and Yellow lines in continuous service in the early hours of Saturday to Sunday and on Tuesday night. On the afternoon of the Cortejo, Tuesday, and on Sunday morning, the day of the Mass of Blessing of the Ribbons, the operation will be reinforced on all lines. On the other days, the Blue and Yellow lines will be reinforced from 8:00 pm and will start the service to Trindade earlier, at 4:00 am.
