Another year, once again Paris Saint-Germain is far from triumphing in the Champions League, despite the many millions invested. Borussia Dortmund, with a much less 'valuable' team, ended up winning 1-0 with a goal from Hummels.
Vitinha, the Portuguese midfielder, was visibly sad with the result: "It's not easy to talk now. We left with the feeling that we gave it our all. We would like to thank the fans, who were incredible throughout the game. We gave it our all, but it wasn't enough. The disappointment is enormous, but it's the beginning of a project... I don't have much to say," he said to Canal+.
Other members of the club also analyzed the defeat. "In two games, we didn't score a single goal. Against a great team, it's true, but we were superior. Now, we have to recover and congratulate our opponent," said Luis Enrique, the club's coach.
Nasser Al Khelaifi, the president, admitted: "We thought we were going to the final. I'm proud of my team, the youngest in Europe. We were in the semi-finals three times in five years. It's football, sometimes it's not fair, but you have to accept it," he said.
