Monaco player's car kills cyclist
An 85-year-old man allegedly ran a red light before crashing into Eliot Matazo's vehicle.

An 85-year-old cyclist died on Sunday following an accident the previous day involving Eliot Matazo, a 22-year-old player who currently plays for Royal Antwerp on loan from Monaco this season.
According to information provided by the Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws, the man succumbed to his injuries from the incident, which had already been made public by the club itself the previous day and which ended up removing the young midfielder from the squad list for the match against Cercle Brugge.
"This morning, Eliot Matazo was involved in a serious traffic accident with a cyclist. According to initial findings, the cyclist may have been blinded by the sun and crossed a red light," the official statement said.
"As is customary in this type of accident, Eliot took a saliva and alcohol test, and both were negative. There is also no evidence that there was excessive speed. Without prejudice to the investigation, everything points to an unfortunate incident," it continued.
"Eliot is extremely affected by the events, and neither the player nor the club will make any further statements until the investigation is complete. Our thoughts are with the cyclist and his family," it added.
