Tips from a gastroenterologist to prevent indigestion

The 'website' Well + Good spoke with gastroenterologist Wendi LeBrett to find out what you need to change in your habits. "Eating smaller and more regular meals throughout the day can help", is one of the first steps.

You should also avoid meals with a lot of fat and spices, as well as avoiding caffeine and alcohol. At night it can be a more complicated time. Here you should avoid eating three to four hours before going to bed. Making an incline with the pillows can also help.
"When you have an incline, gravity helps prevent the acidic contents of the stomach from coming back up into the esophagus."
