The Garda (Irish police force) seized about €140,000 worth of cocaine during a raid in Dublin last year, before half of the drugs were "inadvertently destroyed".

Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard that in April last year, gardaí were investigating an organised crime gang in Tallaght and obtained a warrant to search the home and car of a suspect.

When they searched Dominik Kaczmarek they found two kilos of cocaine in his car, each kilo worth an estimated €70,028.

However, one kilo of the cocaine was "inadvertently destroyed" while it was being transported by gardaí and was never analysed. As a result, the accused man was only charged in respect of the remaining kilo.

He has pleaded guilty to one count of possession of cocaine for sale or supply at his home.
