On Monday, the Public Security Police (PSP) arrested a 27-year-old man in flagrante delicto for the crime of qualified theft in Olhão.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Faro PSP District Command revealed that around 7:30 am yesterday, a citizen reported to the security forces that, "after briefly leaving the vehicle he usually drives in the course of his professional activity in the city of Olhão, he found that it had been stolen by unknown individuals".
The PSP "quickly set up a device to locate and intercept the stolen vehicle, having located it in the same city, in circulation".
"The suspect driving the vehicle was ordered to stop, which he disobeyed, and was followed until the moment he abandoned the vehicle to attempt an escape on foot, which was promptly countered by the police officers involved, having been immobilised and arrested", reveals the same note.
After the arrest, the PSP managed to "indict the suspect for the theft of another vehicle registered the previous day, as well as for the theft of fuel at a petrol station" in that city.
The suspect was notified to appear today at the Olhão Court for a first judicial interrogation and possible application of coercive measures.
