GNR soldiers investigated for attacks on three minors in Palmela
The four military men were brought to court and were subjected to the precautionary measure of prohibition of contacts.

The Public Prosecutor's Office (MP) revealed this Wednesday that it is investigating four members of the National Republican Guard (GNR) for alleged assaults on three minors in Palmela, in the municipality of Setúbal.
In a statement, the Public Prosecutor's Office of the District of Setúbal revealed that the MP "opened an investigation following the incidents that occurred in Palmela, Setúbal, in the early hours of 11th April, and which involved four GNR members and three minors", with the aim of investigating the "police actions of the elements of that security force".
On 20th April, the four defendants, all GNR members from Palmela, were questioned by the MP and were charged with three crimes of aggravated kidnapping, three crimes of aggravated physical harm, one crime of abuse of power, one crime of document forgery, one crime of slanderous denunciation and three crimes of aggravated threat.
The military members were constituted as defendants and the MP requested that they be subject to the coercive measure of prohibiting contact between the defendants and the victims and the immediate suspension of their professional duties.
However, the criminal examining magistrate, "after confirming the indictment of the facts and the proposed legal qualification", decided to apply the coercive measure of prohibiting contact, but considered that the suspension of professional duties was "disproportionate".
In the statement, the Public Prosecutor's Office announced that it will appeal the decision and that the investigation is subject to judicial secrecy.
