After Margarida Blasco presented a Government proposal two weeks ago that totally displeased the elements of the security forces, the PSP unions and GNR associations are meeting again at the Ministry of Internal Administration (MAI), at a time when they have already submitted to the MAI a counterproposal in which they defend an increase of around 600 euros by changing the current service and risk supplement in the security forces.

To contest the proposal presented by the Government, the PSP and GNR police officers scheduled, through social networks, a gathering starting at 2 pm in Praça do Comércio, in Lisbon, a protest that is being disseminated by the 'inop movement' and has the logistical support of the Vertical Union of Police Careers, which is not entitled to negotiate with the supervisory authority due to the small number of members.
With this gathering, which will take place while the structures are meeting at the MAI, the elements of the PSP and GNR demand "equal treatment in the allocation of a dignified mission supplement".
The spokesperson for the platform that brings together 11 PSP unions and GNR associations, Bruno Pereira, has already announced that they will abandon negotiations with the Government if "a new dignified proposal" is not presented by the MAI.
The platform proposes that the current 100 euros paid to police officers in the service and risk supplement in the security forces be replaced by a fixed component of 712.96 euros, which would result in an effective increase of around 600 euros.
In addition to this value, the Public Security Police unions and the socio-professional associations of the National Republican Guard defend the maintenance of the variable component of the supplement, which corresponds to 20% of the base salary, and want this increase to be paid retroactively to January 1, 2023.
The current supplement paid to these security forces includes a fixed component of 100 euros and a variable component of 20% of the base salary.
"Even if there is no immediate allocation of this value, we hope that at least a proposal that meets this claim can be brought to the table. We understand the limitations of the State, but those who have committed to resolving this issue must truly commit to an effective resolution and not come up with subterfuges or supposed arguments to justify the unjustifiable, which is not allocating" a mission supplement, said the platform's spokesperson.
Bruno Pereira stressed that the police "will not understand" if the Government once again puts on the table "something similar to that unworthy non-proposal".
At the meeting on May 2, the MAI proposed a new mission supplement for the elements of the PSP and the GNR of between 365.13 and 625.94 euros.
The proposed supplement is based on the base salaries of the PSP national director and the GNR commander-general and replaces the current service and risk supplement in the security forces.
With this new mission supplement, officers would have a mission supplement of 12% of the base remuneration of the PSP national director and the GNR commander, which is 5,216.23 euros, while the percentage for the PSP chiefs and GNR sergeants is 9% and for agents and guards is 7%.
Despite the meetings with the GNR associations and PSP unions being separate, these structures presented a joint proposal through the platform created to demand a mission supplement identical to that which the previous Government allocated to the Judicial Police.
