Executive is governing with "clear lack of ambition and direction"
The leader of the Liberal Initiative, Rui Rocha, considered today that the new Democratic Alliance (AD) Government had "a false start", pointing out the cases of the IRS "artifice", political uncoordination and lack of ambition.

"This is a false start and a serious false start because Portugal has no more time", said Rui Rocha, in statements to journalists, on the sidelines of a visit to the Ovibeja agricultural fair, which runs until Sunday.
The liberal leader stressed that several cases contributed to this assessment by the IL, such as the "artifice" of changing the IRS rates or the "political uncoordination" regarding military service for petty criminals, among others.
"And we have a lack of direction. This Government is governing with the budget, the stability programme and the instruments of the Socialist Party and this shows a clear lack of ambition and direction", he stressed.
Asked whether the Government should proceed with a revised budget, Rui Rocha replied that this assessment should be made by the Government.
"It is the Government that has to make this choice, whether or not it wants, first, to have this ambition and, then, whether the budgetary instrument at its disposal, which is the PS budget, is sufficient or not", he stressed.
However, he added, the Government is "perfectly aligned and comfortable with the essence of the socialist proposals".
Regarding the negotiations between the Government and the security forces for the PSP and GNR mission supplement, the IL leader predicted "difficult times".
"When years go by, one after the other, in which no decisions are made, the State is not reformed, measures are not taken for the country to have the conditions to create wealth, everyone complains, but the truth is that resources are insufficient", he stressed.
Regarding the accusations by the new Government that the previous one approved a support of 100 million euros for farmers to cope with the drought without having put it in the budget, Rui Rocha said that it is an example of what was a "management pattern" of the PS executive.
"This corresponds to a pattern of incompetence, negligence and lack of interest in the sector", said the official, hoping that, "with budgeting, without budgeting, the sector will now find a new path".
