"We know it'll be a difficult match because Malta comes from a draw, we're aware of that, but we're focused and we want to win. We have to go in very concentrated, impose our football and, if that's the case from the first minute, we're the favorites and we'll win the match", Andreia Jacinto started by saying, in statements to journalists, at the Cidade do Futebol, in Oeiras.

Portugal debuted in the qualification phase for Euro2025 with a triumph over Bosnia-Herzegovina, by 3-0, on Friday, leading Group B3, with three points, while the Maltese drew 0-0 in Northern Ireland and have one.

Andreia Jacinto has had one of her best seasons in Spain, playing for Real Sociedad, and confirmed that she has learned a lot in the competitive Spanish league.

"It's very good to be at the competitive level that I am, because I feel that it's helping me grow as a player. I hope to bring that to help the national team", she concluded.

Lúcia Alves, who, if she plays against Malta, will reach her 20th internationalization, confirmed that the Portuguese national team will not underestimate the Maltese team and that the focus is on winning another qualification match.

"It's not easy on a synthetic pitch, we know the difficulties that they can put us through, but we're going to work and give everything for the three points. We should never underestimate the adversary, but we're going to enjoy the match and have fun playing", stated the Benfica player.

To end, both players accepted the challenge of the coach Francisco Neto, who said that the team can, like the men's national team, win 10 matches in a row, and guaranteed that they also have that in mind.

"The goal is clearly to make it 10 out of 10", said Andreia Jacinto, seconded by Lúcia Alves, who reiterated that "the team has the quality to reach 10 victories".

After beating Bosnia by 3-0 and having won the first three points in the qualification for the Euro2025 women's football, the team led by Francisco Neto travels today to Malta, where on Tuesday, at 5:30 pm, they'll play the second match in the qualification.
