Alexandre Santos admits impasse in renewal with Petro de Luanda
Petro de Luanda coach, Portuguese Alexandre Santos, denied today in statements to Lusa that he will leave the command of the Angolan two-time champions at the end of the season, but admitted that there is a stalemate in the contract renewal.

The Portuguese coach, who did not elaborate on his answers, reveals that in January he was invited by the Angolan club's board to sign a one-year contract extension, but has not yet accepted, due to "some issues between the parties".
"I was invited by the club to renew in January, and so I could have signed a long time ago, but I understood that we should continue the talks, due to some issues between the parties, and that's where we remain. Also because there are other things that are much more important to resolve at this time," he assured.
Alexandre Santos' reaction comes days after the Angolan and international press reported that the Portuguese coach would leave the Angolan team at the end of the season, due to the recent elimination of the Angolan two-time champions in the quarter-finals of the African Champions League, information that the tricolor 'helmsman' denied.
"As for false information, associating my non-renewal with the elimination from the Champions League, I want to recall that in the biggest competition in Africa, in three consecutive seasons, we achieved more victories, more goals scored, fewer goals conceded and more points for the CAF [Confederation of African Football] ranking than all of Angolan football in 30 years of African competitions..." he stressed.
In recent weeks, it has been reported that Alexandre Santos has an agreement with Wydad de Casablanca from Morocco, and is also under the watchful eye of other renowned African football clubs, information that the Portuguese coach said, in a word, does not correspond to the truth: "I deny it".
In the Girabola, Petro de Luanda is in third place, with 37 points, and four behind the leader Desportivo da Lunda Sul, with nine rounds to go until the end of the Angolan football championship.
