Lack of physical exercise
"Obesity, hypertension and diabetes are associated with up to 50% of dementia cases. Improving risk factors, such as sedentary lifestyles that contribute to the development of these conditions, could significantly reduce dementia rates," reveals Alvaro Pascual-Leone.
Lack of social interaction
“Having limited social interaction is associated with a higher risk of dementia. The overall survival rate increases by 50% if you have strong social relationships. More than 80% of centenarians communicate with a friend or family member on a daily basis,” explains Smita Patel.
Lack of quality sleep
“Lack of sleep, especially sleeping less than five to six hours a night, is associated with an increased risk of developing dementia later in life,” continues the doctor.
