Indonesia Floods Death Toll Rises to 67

The death toll from flooding that has hit the Indonesian island of Sumatra has risen to 67, with many residents still missing, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) said on Monday.

"Some of the missing people have been found. Based on police identification, 67 people died," the BNPB told Indonesian TV station Metro TV.

Several hours of torrential rain on Saturday night in six districts in western Sumatra caused flash floods and cold lava flows from Mount Marapi, the most active volcano on the island of Sumatra.

Cold lava is a combination of volcanic material: ash, sand and rock.
